If anything, "Throwing Shadows" is an excellent book to look at in terms of understanding how Konigsburg's style has changed over the years. The stories told here are certainly accomplished, but they lack the polished voice of her later works. I certainly think that in spite of its publication date the book still has things to say to kids 4/5(9).
